The Wudang Taoist Association hosted a symposium in the Wudang Mountains of Shiyan, Hubei province, on Dec 29 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the association's founding. Over 100 Taoist monks from the Chinese Taoist Association as well as temples at home and abroad attended the symposium.
Since the establishment of the association, Wudang has collected nearly 200 million yuan ($32 million) and restored the majority of ancient buildings, such as Taihe Palace and Zixiao Palace.
The ancient buildings in Wudang reflect the architecture and art in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), said Li Guangfu, president of the Chinese Taoist Association. Due to the conservation of 5,035 cultural relics, Wudang is honored as a "Taoist Cultural Relics Treasure".
The Wudang Mountains are a Taoist holy land in China. The ancient buildings of Wudang made the World Heritage List in 1994.
