Stone axe may date back to Neolithic Age

A cultural tourism appraisal activity called“Step Into Tai Chi Temple, was held in the Wudang Mountains tourist attraction in Shiyan city, Central China’s Hubei province, on March 12, wudangshan.gov.cn reported.

Experts from Shiyan’s municipal tourism culture association and Yunyang Teachers’ College attended the event and appraised an ancient stone axe donated by Wang Guojun, a local farmer.

According to the experts, the stone axe, discovered by Wang while he was ploughing near the Tai Chi Temple in the autumn of 2006, may be a cultural relic dating back to the Neolithic Age.

Though it has experienced thousands of years of storms, the axe is still sharp enough to cut paper and vegetables easily.

The stone axe is significant for the research on Taoist activities on Wudang Mountains in the early years. But the accurate history of the axe still needs further authentication.
