Special region holds 2014 economic work conference

The 2014 Economic Work Conference of the Wudang Mountains Tourism and Economic Special Region was held at Wudang Mountains Hotel Convention Center on Feb 18, wudangshan.gov.cn reported.
Participants included Li Faping, vice-mayor of Shiyan city and director of the special regional management committee, various departmental managers, and representatives of local residents.
Based on the analysis of current economic trends, attendees summarized the economic work that had been achieved in 2013, and set goals for the special region for this year. In addition, some departments and individuals that made great contributions to Wudang last year received awards.
At the conference, Li praised work during 2013, especially the construction of the South-to-North Water Diversion middle route project and the west Hubei ecological and cultural tourism circle.
This year, the tourist attraction aims to attract 5.5 million visitors, increasing 10 percent year-on-year, while achieving tourist revenues of 2.8 billion yuan ($460.6 million), increasing 12 percent over the previous year, Li added.
This year, Wudang Mountains will focus on promoting tourism, speeding up the cultivation of this strategic pillar of industry and improving local people’s livelihoods.
