Hong Kong holds first Wudang Tai Chi Culture Festival

The first Wudang Tai Chi Culture Festival opened in Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong on Feb 18. The festival, including three performances, was a great success. Over 15,000 people attended the shows.
The festival was sponsored by the Hong Kong branch of the Wudang Wushu Committee and supervised by the Wudang special zone and Wudang Wushu Committee. The Wudang Tai Chi Troupe performed in the shows. Besides Hong Kong, they have also performed in Shenzhen.
Hong Kong Asia Television delivered live coverage of the performances in Hong Kong. Over 20 media outlets, including Hong Kong Ming Pao Daily News, Oriental Daily News, Sing Tao Daily, Shenzhen Television, People.com, QQ.com and IFeng.com covered the event. "Wudang tai chi craze" swept across the country.
Xu Xiaohui, vice-director of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Regions, spoke at the opening ceremony.
The troupe not only performed tai chi kung fu, but also communicated with wushu fans at the shows. During the festival, more than 30,000 pieces of publicity materials were given out to audiences to further promote Wudang tai chi and the Wudang Mountains.
The festival also attracted more investors to Wudang. Three companies, including China Resources and Origin clothing company, decided to invest in Wudang after the festival.
