A public benefit activity aiming to clean the Wudang Mountains attracted nearly 100 volunteers on March 16. They picked up garbage along the road from Wulong Palace to Nanyan Rock using their own tools.
The activity was jointly organized by the Wuhan municipal committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the Wudang Mountains scenic zone administration, Qinchu.com, Shuidu.com, and Dongfeng hotline.
Volunteers picked up trash from the moment they stepped into Wulong Palace. They spared no efforts to do their job. It took them four hours to finish the task in spite of the 15 kilometers of mountain roads. At the end of the activity, the volunteers expressed their wish for more social activities in the future.
The activity was initiated by moderators of the above-mentioned websites. They had received so many calls since March 13, when they posted the notice, that their phones had become hotlines. By March 15, nearly a hundred people had offered to volunteer. The activity also received support from local authorities. The event was a good way to call on local residents to keep the Wudang Mountains beautiful.
