Wudang holds New Year's concert

The newly decorated Wudang Taichi Theater, dressed in Taoist style, welcomed its first show — A Night on Taichi Lake • 2013 Wudang New Year's Concert – on the evening of Jan 10.
CCTV's famous host, Chen Luyu, emceed the program. Li Xincao, a promising young figure, conducted the Hubei Chimes Philharmonic Orchestra during the concert. Attendees present at the concert were Zhou Ji, secretary of the Shiyan municipal Party; Zhang Weiguo, vice-secretary of the Shiyan Party and mayor of Shiyan; two other city leaders; and over 1,000 music lovers.
The concert opened with the Spring Festival Overture, performed by the Chinese folk orchestra. The conductor, Li Xincao, is one of the youngest, most active, and popular in China. He is the director's assistant and resident conductor of China's National Symphony Orchestra.
He is also chief conductor of The National Ballet of China. Hubei Chimes Philharmonic Orchestra is composed of national maestros and outstanding young performers who play the chime-bell and Chinese folk music. The orchestra has gone to many countries and regions to perform.
Wu Bixia, the world top singing contest winner skilled in both Chinese folk style and bel canto style; Yan Weiwen, the famous military bel canto singer; and Chen Jun, the well-known erhu virtuoso, performed at the concert. Performances of Radetzky March, Turkey March and other folk melodies entertained the audiences.
