Wudang holds gong and drum contest

The Wudang special region organized a rural gong and drum contest at Culture Plaza on Nov 27. Thirteen teams took part in the contest and nine of them won awards.

Contestants played gongs and drums in various forms, showing the vigor and strength of Wudang residents. Local officials such as Zhou Jihong, deputy head of the Wudang special region administration committee and member of the working committee, were present at the contest.

After a fierce competition, 13 performers won Best Performance awards, three teams won Best Organization awards, and the top six teams won medals and bonus prizes.

The contest sought to further promote and develop traditional culture and invigorate the lives of rural residents. On the basis of inheriting and promoting traditional folk culture, more cultural products with unique Wudang features will be produced to better publicize Wudang culture.
