The forum is organized by the National Association of Village Development, the Hubei provincial department of agriculture, the Shiyan Municipal Party Committee, and the Shiyan Municipal People's Government. It is supported by the working committee and the management committee of the Wudang Mountain special administrative region.
The theme of this forum is "Developing Culture and Tourism to Benefit Villagers". It will provide nine activities for participants, including a work report presented by representative headmen, the Round Table Conference of Village CEO, the 2012 Green Village Annual Meeting, and the Evening Gala for the closing ceremony.
The Annual National Village Headmen's Forum was first held in 2000 and is the only national platform for village officials to report their work and talk about the development of rural areas. The participants represent the five million village headmen of 660,000 villages across the country. The forum is dubbed "the Olympics" for village headmen.
