Wudang wants more visitors

Officials of Wudang tourism areas will strengthen promotions and speed up relic renovations and infrastructure construction, said Tian Chengzhong, vice-governor of Hubei province.

The areas is expected to attract more than five million visitors by 2012, he noted.

In recent years, officials have adopted multiple ways to promote Wudang tourism. The advertising message -- Wudang Mountain and Taiji Lake, wonderful places to sustain health -- has been promoted across the country.

In the first nine months of this year, the area received nearly 2.5 million Chinese and foreign tourists, generating a total of 1.4 billion yuan, which has surpassed the number for the whole of last year. It indicates that tourism has stepped into a golden age.
