A winter sports event in Shanxi province targeting people with disabilities had its opening ceremony in Taiyuan on Jan 18.
Some 150 athletes with disabilities from Taiyuan, Jinzhong and Changzhi cities as well as teachers from special education schools participated in winter sports activities during the event.
The event aimed to promote sports among the group and to serve as a warm up for the 2019 National Games for Persons with Disabilities. More events like this will be organized up to the end of March to encourage local people with disabilities to enjoy winter sports.
