After China’s reforms and opening up began, its economy developed rapidly, with coal, electric power, and dairy products as the backbone, as did its industrial system. It has plenty of mineral, with 25 kinds of mine resources verified, and 50.5 billion tons of coal, or about a sixth of the province’s total. Its Pingshuo Antaibao and Anjialing surface mine are very large.

Shouzhou also has a good transportation network and many scenic spots and historic sites, including the Yingxian wooden tower, Chongfu Temple, and a group in tombs from the Han Dynasty, as signs of its old civilization.

It also has a large mine site power plant.
