Qikou Ancient Town

The city of Lvliang, in the west-central part of Shanxi province, covers a 21,143-square–meter area, with a population of 3.53 million. It has plentiful resources, with more than 90 percent of the land containing various minerals. It has more than 40 mines for coal, iron, aluminum and alumina, and coal reserves of 153.8 billion tons, accounting for 15 percent of the province's total, and 988 million tons of iron ore, at 36 percent, and 440 million tons of aluminum-alumina earth, for 46.4 percent.

Lvliang is also China’s largest red date and walnut producer and has many cultural resources for travelers, for example, the Pangquan Ditch, a national nature reserve, North Wudang Mountains, a national scenic spot and a birthplace of Taoism, and the town of Qikou and village of Xiwan, which are among China’s 10 historically, culturally famous spots.
