This vessel, 68.8 cm tall and 35.2 cm in diameter at the widest part, was unearthed from Tomb No 8 at the Jin site in the village of Beizhao, in 1992. There are two of these flagons basically identical to each other in shape, pattern and inscriptions, both unique and beautifully patterned. The inside of the lid has 26 engraved characters, in four lines, saying "Made early in the 9th lunar month by Marquis Pi of the Jin State".
