This park sits on Lvliang Mountain and is part of the Guandishan Forest Zone, which covers the city of Taiyuan, Lvliang county, and other cities and counties, across a 68,448-hectare Area. It is called the home of a particular species of larch tree and the brown-eared pheasant, which is a rare fowl and the provincial bird (Shanxi). Much of the park is around 1, 300 - 2, 500 meters above sea level, with the highest point being 2, 831 meters, the second highest peak in North China area, at Xiaowen Moutain.
The park has eight scenic spots: Pangquangou, Beiwudang Mountain, Baimaxian, Yunding Mountain, Guolaofeng, Yuanpingchuan, Sandaochuan, and Yanggetai, and a number of springs, waterfalls, rare flowers, grasses, a dense forest, and rare animals such as the pheasant, as well as caves and mountains, making it an ideal place for tourists.
