Once dependent on the coal industry, Zhenxing village in Changzhi city now depends on its thriving tourist industry.
Since 2012, as a result of the provincial industrial transformation plan, the village has been able to move from a coal-based economy and develop a rural tourism industry along with new local companies -- by taking advantage of its beautiful natural scenery and rich local culture.
More than 20 tourist attractions including Huaiyin Temple and Peony Park have been built in the village, helping provide jobs for the villagers.
In 2017, the per capita income of villagers exceeded 25,000 yuan ($3,896).
