Ruicheng county established a thin tank for environmental protection, the first of its kind in Shanxi province, on Feb 10.
An expert committee consisting of 15 professionals in environmental protection was set up at the launch ceremony of the think tank in Taiyuan. The committee will provide policy guidance, intelligence and technical support for Ruicheng county in its socio-economic development and ecological protection.
Experts on the committee, such as Du Bin from the School of Environment of Tsinghua University and Liu Xidan from the Shanxi Department of Environmental Protection, delivered speeches at the launch ceremony putting forward suggestions for water pollution control and sewage emission and treatment in 2018.
Ruicheng county has attached great importance to ecological protection in recent years. In 2017, the forest coverage rate of the county reached 34.59 percent and its density of PM2.5 decreased by 2.13 percent; its environmental comprehensive index was ranked the best in Yuncheng city.
