A service workstation for people in need was established in Qiaodong Street, Yingze district, Taiyuan, on Dec 29, with 22 volunteers from all walks of life selected as staff members in the first batch of volunteers.

The workstation consists of a work department, a service department and a liaison department. Service organizations such as a voluntary service group, counseling group, family practice group and housekeeping group were also set up.

The 22 volunteers will offer one-to-one help to people who have written requests on the boards in the workstation and they will help satisfy the needs of empty nesters, residents with disabilities, left-behind children and one-child families who have lost their only child, setting an example of community service.

The workstation has so far helped 1,289 households in need and provided one-to-one services for 33 families that have lost their only child. More than 1,300 people have applied for voluntary activities organized by the workstation.

Next, the Qiaodong Street workstation will complete its management system, improve services and attract more volunteers, companies and organizations to join the team at the workstation, providing personnel and resources for the operation of the workstation.

Services will also be expanded to include assistance for ordinary people. Various events focusing on improving living standards will also be launched.
