Shanxi Fenjiu liquor, a traditional Chinese spirit, joined various liquor brands from across the world at the 2017 Shanxi World Liquor Cultural Expo held in Fenyang, North China's Shanxi province, on Sept 28.
More than 1,500 representatives from domestic and foreign liquor brands met in Shanxi, with the aim of promoting clear spirits.
Brewers from Shanxi demonstrated how to brew Fenjiu liquor at the opening ceremony, offering visitors the chance to taste a fresh batch of the famous spirit.
The history of Shanxi Fenjiu can be traced back 6,000 years. Over the past 800 years Fenjiu has taken the lead among Chinese-made spirits since the current version of distilled Fenjiu liquor was first produced during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368).
In 1915, Fenjiu won a gold medal at the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition, representing a milestone in the development of Chinese clear spirits.
