Achievements by the Shanxi Tourism Sector were revealed by the local tourism authority on Sept 20, one day before the 2017 Shanxi Tourism Development Conference opened in Jinzhong city, Shanxi province on Sept 21.
Over 9,000 tourism companies have been established
Statistics reveal that there are now a total of 9,000 tourism companies in Shanxi province. Total revenues for the Shanxi tourism sector amounted to 355.58 billion yuan ($53.93 billion) from January to August 2017.
Eight special tourist routes have been established
A total of eight special routes have been developed including routes for world cultural heritage, ancient architecture, the history of Shanxi businessmen, history of Shanxi as a cradle of Chinese culture, scenery at Taihang Mountain, red tourism, and the scenery of the Yellow River and Lvliang city. The province is to develop three new tourist routes –– at Taihang Mountain, the Yellow River, and Shanxi Great Wall.
Facilities at scenic spots have been improved
Shanxi Provincial Government built 1,534 washrooms at scenic spots from 2016 to 2017, and will build 1,088 more in 2017 to offer better facilities to tourists.
Rural tourism have gained strong support from local government
Shanxi Provincial Tourism Development Commission offered a subsidy of 35 million yuan ($5.31 million) to improve infrastructure for rural tourism. In 2016, a subsidy of 81.6 million yuan was offered to develop rural tourism in Shanxi province.
