A big data industry promotion meeting was held in Lyuliang, Shanxi province on Aug 21 to boost the economy and local big data industry.
Dozens of experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, colleges and scientific research institutes, discussed solutions to the city's economic dependence on coal and shared ideas on developing a big data industry in Lyuliang.
More than 100 big data companies, such as Huawei Technologies and Inspur Technologies, attended the event, and witnessed the signing of 12 projects worth 2.13 billion yuan ($319.05 million).
The local government also published 28 preferential policies in nine different areas targeting big data businesses to attract more of them to invest and settle in the city.
