Targeting companies in the Pearl River Delta region, Shanxi held an investment promotion conference in Guangzhou, South China’s Guangdong province, on June 15.

The conference aimed to strengthen the partnerships between Shanxi and the Pearl River Delta region, and help advance economic transformation in Shanxi by attracting investment from companies in the Pearl River Delta region to Shanxi through promoting related policies and measures.

Shanxi’s industries including big data and high-end equipment manufacturing are expecting cooperation in areas like the structural reform of state-owned companies along with financial reform, and these were promoted during the conference. Some reform and innovations, such as simplifying the approval procedure for pilot investment projects and reforming the system of attracting investment to Shanxi, aroused great interest from the attendees.

Shanxi province and the Pearl River Delta region are in different phases of development and have their respective advantages. That is, the two regions are complementary to each other in terms of cooperation, according to Wang Yixin, vice-governor of Shanxi.

He expressed his hopes that investors and entrepreneurs in the Pearl River Delta region will bring professionals, techniques and capital to Shanxi which has a large market and plentiful resources, stimulating development in the two regions.

The event witnessed the signing of 14 projects, worth 17.63 billion yuan ($2.59 billion) in total, which cover industries like new materials, modern agriculture and tourism.
