Two charter flights from Datong to Cambodia and Vietnam will be launched during July and August, according to a press conference held on June 6 in Datong, Shanxi province.
It’s the first time that foreign airlines have operated from Datong Airport.
Flight ZA4049/4039 between Datong and Cambodia, operated by Cambodia Angkor Air using an A320 aircraft, will operate every Monday, Thursday and Saturday from July 10. The aircraft will leave at 18:25 (Beijing time) and reach Siem Reap, Cambodia at 22:10 (local time). A return flight will take off at 12:00 and arrive in Datong at 17:25.
Datong Airport will launch three scheduled flights between Datong and Danang, a port city in Vietnam, every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, using an A320 aircraft operated by Vietnam’s Pacific Airlines. The five-hour flight will leave Datong at 16:25 (Beijing time) and arrive in Danang at 20:10 (local time). The return flight will depart Danang at 10:00 (local time) for Datong, arriving at 15:25.
More than 400 tourism industry executives attended the press conference, hearing about the charms of cities in Cambodia and Vietnam. Shanxi visitors to the two countries along the Belt and Road are eligible for visas on arrival, making these countries convenient travel destinations.
The two air routes, initiated by the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Shanxi Baohua International Travel, are expected to help boost tourism and further communication among the three sides.
