A rural tourism festival in Fushan county, Shanxi province, opened on April 24 in the Impression Countryside scenic area.
The festival, which will last one month, is being hosted by the local government which has prepared six themed events for tourists, including performances of folk customs, crop-picking, and cycling, so as to get people closer to nature and country life.
The Impression Countryside scenic area, 3 kilometers southwest of the downtown area in Fushan county, covers an area measuring 2.8 square kilometers and has attracted investment of 330 million yuan ($47.84 million). More than 30 scenic sights and some 700 energy-saving greenhouses with more than 60 species of flowers and trees have been built in the scenic area.
