The Atlas of Shanxi Forestry Resources compiled by Shanxi's forestry and mapping departments has won the Peixiu Award, a national prize for excellent mapping, according to an annual meeting of the Chinese Society for Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation on Nov 25.
The atlas consists of 680 maps, 162 cartograms, 74 statistical charts and 16 photographs, reflecting the distribution and division of forestry resources in Shanxi province in a comprehensive and systematic way through modern cartography.
The release of this atlas fills a gap in the market for detailed information about forestry resources in Shanxi province. Meanwhile, the map collection provides readers, especially forestry workers, with a scientific basis for managing the current situation of local forestry resources and solving existing problems.
