Officials from Shanxi province met with a high-profile group of overseas ambassadors, entrepreneurs, experts and civil servants in Taiyuan on Sept 6 to discuss low carbon development.
The group included professionals from nine countries, who will also attend the 2016 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum from Sept 7 to 9.
Luo Huining, the Shanxi Party chief, told at the meeting that Shanxi has been developing new technology based on the use of coal resources. He hoped that the forum will spur further cooperation on coal utilization, energy and high-tech industries.
Carlo Rubbia, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist, thanked Shanxi for establishing an international platform where people can share ideas and cutting-edge energy industry technology.
It's a win-win result to cooperate on making better use of fossil fuel resources such as coal and natural gas, and advancing the renewable energy industry, said Rubbia.
