More than 10,000 people of Chinese descent living overseas took part in a ceremony involving the worship of ancestors held in the square of Hong Tong Large Locust Tree scenic spot in Linfen city, Shanxi province, on Zhongyuan Festival or Hungry Ghost Festival which fell on Aug17 (the fifth day of July in the Chinese calendar), Xinhua reported.
