A delegation from Thailand's Office of Mental Health paid a visit to Shanxi province on July 31, seeking opportunities to cooperate on the use of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to treat mental diseases, chinanews.com reports.
During the six-day visit, the Thai psychiatrists visited hospitals in Shanxi province which specialize in TCM.
Members from the delegation showed great interest in Chinese medicine, including acupuncture and moxibustion, massage and scrape therapy.
Chinese medicine has become increasingly popular in Thailand, which is currently home to some 800 TCM doctors.
The delegation expressed their desire to boost cooperation and promote advanced and effective traditional therapy in clinical treatment.
As an important birthplace of Chinese medicine, Shanxi province is renowned for its abundant Chinese medicine resources and famous doctors.
Shanxi province has maintained a good relationship with Thailand in the field of medical health for the past 19 years. Both sides agreed that the visit will further enhance mutual medical development and strengthen friendships.
