Noodles from North China’s Shanxi province -a province renowned for a wide range of noodles in China - will now be available in Los Angeles, the United States, after opening the city’s first Shanxi noodle restaurant.
Funded by a Shanxi-based catering culture development group, with the joint efforts of eight Shanxi catering companies and their counterpart in the US, the 300-square-meter noodles restaurant will begin official operations on Dec 19. It supplies distinctive Shanxi food to customers, including shaved noodles and local dishes. Noodle making performances will be staged in the dining hall.
The restaurant will not only help to expand Shanxi’s noodle market in the US and promote traditional Shanxi food, but also cultivate the province’s brand, said Sun Yuejin, head of Shanxi’s Commerce Department. The commerce department has organized a Shanxi food festival in UN in the past year.
In addition, a Chinese-US catering culture exchange event will occur at the same time of the restaurant’s opening.
