North China’s Shanxi province is completely covered by food safety risk monitoring. All 119 county-level administrative units are monitored, according to the province’s center for disease control and prevention on June 26.
To date, the province’s food safety risk system inspects 29 items on mineral water and packages, 93 on foods, 84 on health foods and 7 on food packaging and food contact materials.
The system integrates health administration, disease control and prevention, medical care and supervision organizations, while the sampling runs a full range from “farmlands” to “dining tables”. It is striving for a five-level reporting system at village, town, county, municipal and provincial levels.
