North China's Shanxi province established an alliance of the photovoltaic in Taiyuan on June 16. 30 enterprises, research institutes and universities in the province were included as members.
The photovoltaic industry is a new industry in Shanxi that started in 2005. To date, Shanxi has 19 photovoltaic enterprises with 16.28 billion yuan ($2.62 billion) total investment .
The total installed photovoltaic capacity is estimated to reach 2 million kilowatts by the end of 2015, and the province is striving to hit 5 million kilowatts by the end of 2020.
The photovoltaic alliance will be a communication and cooperation platform for photovoltaic enterprises to facilitate their restructuring and improve competitiveness, according to Zhu Peng, deputy head of Shanxi Commission of Economy and Information Technology.
