Shanxi has organized investment conferences for key manufacturing projects in Guangzhou, Tianjin and Wuhan, to further its cooperation with the Pearl River Delta, six provinces in Middle China and the Bohai Rim.
The province will restructure economic development based on its coal resources, to develop itself into a center of modern coal industry and new power. Meanwhile, it strives to foster new pillar industries, such as advanced manufacturing, according to the province's work plan.
The promotion conferences in the three cities prioritized manufacturing of equipment, modern chemicals, new materials and medicines.
"At present, over 80 percent of Shanxi enterprises are engaging in manufacturing. The province's manufacturing is expected to have favorable prospects and ample business opportunities," said an official of the province's commission of economy and information technology.
Shanxi has prepared 175 non-coal projects for promotion conferences in the three cities, including 145 for emerging industries.
At the end of May and early June, it will have investment promotion in Shanghai and Beijing, mainly targeting foreign-invested and central enterprises.
