Tourists to Shanxi province during the National Day holiday, which runs from Oct 1-7, will qualify to participate in the 2014 China (Shanxi) Tourism Micro Videos Competition.
The competition was launched on Sept 25. Themed “Love Traveling, Love Shanxi and Enjoy Golden Week,” tourists can record what they see and experience in Shanxi’s scenic spots and tourist attractions using mobile phones, cameras or digital video and submit their micro videos to the competition’s organizing committee by email or mail before Oct 15. AVI or MPEG format is acceptable with a duration from eight seconds to eight minutes.
The micro videos for the competition will fall into five categories, namely scenery, people, story, series work and others. A total of 101 prizes will be selected, including one special award, 20 first prizes, 30 second prizes and 50 third prizes, in addition to 100 outstanding works.
After a preliminary selection, these entries will be shown at the official website of the Shanxi Tourism Bureau in tandem with online polls. The competition’s winners are decided based on poll results and expert opinions. The final results will be released at the beginning of November. In addition to award money and certificates, the prize-winners could have their works shown on a travel TV program.
The competition is designed to develop a new model for Shanxi’s tourism industry by encouraging Shanxi tourists to record and share their travels from multiple angles. It also serves as a platform for tourists to share knowledge and experiences.
The 2014 China (Shanxi) Tourism Micro Videos Competition was a joint initiative of the Shanxi Tourism Bureau and Shanxi.
