An optoelectronic industry base located in southeast Shanxi will be constructed by Shanxi province, according to the Shanxi Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology on Sept 1. The base will consist of LED manufacturers in Shanxi's Jincheng and Changzhi. This base is designed to promote the energy conservation industry's development as a new economic growth point.
"The LED project is one of Shanxi's 22 key energy-conservation industry projects. Out of concern for industrial development, Shanxi will focus on LED enterprises in Jincheng and Shanxi to enhance the LED industrial chain and to achieve local matching of its parts and supporting materials, such as thermal dissipation materials and lightings," said an official of the provincial commission of economy and information technology.
Also, the official added, Shanxi will work for full coverage of LED lighting in the province. It plans to reconstruct public lighting into LED by 2015; meanwhile, the newly-constructed lighting project will apply LED lighting products.
