The second World Jin-Merchant Convention was held in Shanxi's Taiyuan on Sept 2 and will last until Sept 4. More than 270 Jin merchants (Shanxi merchants) from 17 countries and regions across the world will attend the convention to discuss how to revive the boom of Jin merchants through Shanxi’s economic transformation and comprehensive reform.

Meanwhile, symposiums surrounding the province’s cultural industry and tourism industry will be held in tandem with the convention.
“I was always being told that our roots are in Shanxi,” said Hu Xiaomin, head of the Hong Kong Shanxi Chamber of Commerce, when he was on hand at the second Jin merchants convention.
Hong Kong’s Shanxi Chamber of Commerce was established this May. Hu Xiaoming was elected as chairman.
Hong Kong has both financial professionals and international experiences. It is one of the world’s financial centers home to many finance professionals. Hong Kong’s Shanxi Chamber of Commerce will attract more entrepreneurs, finance professionals, international businesses and managers in Hong Kong to seek business opportunities in Shanxi and bring their international and modern experience to the province, according to Hu.
“Hong Kong is a global city whereby Shanxi brands can access the world market if they gain popularity there,” Hu said.
