A national supervision and inspection center for metrological appliances in seven categories – determination of gas, dust, wind speed, pressure, temperature, displacement and rescue – in the field of coal mine safety was officially established on August 31 in Shanxi on the approval of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the State Certification and Accreditation Administration, according to the Shanxi Certification and Accreditation Administration.
The National Supervision and Inspection Center for the Coal Mine Safety Metrological Appliances Quality in Shanxi is the only quality supervision center specializing in coal mine metrological appliance quality. It was developed on the basis of the Shanxi Provincial Institute of Metrology and a key cooperation project of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Shanxi provincial government. It is expected to fill the gap in coal mine safety metrological apparatuses quality inspection and promote the quality development of emerging technology and precision instruments manufacturing, serving as technological guarantee for the coal industry.
To date, the center is home to more than 60 sets of inspection equipment in an area of 22,000 square meters. It is competent for the inspection of 726 parameters related to 44 kinds of products.
