An avant-garde music festival hits the stage in Datong city, North China's Shanxi province from Friday until Sunday (Aug 15 to 17). The event is part of the Yungang Tourism Festival, the city's largest annual cultural event with many rock bands and musicians from home and abroad set to appear.

The Northern Wei 398 Art Zone, a cultural venue developed in an abandoned factory, will host the event featuring a variety of genres enlivening the former industrial site from 4 to 9 pm each day.

Datong, ancient capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386-534), wants to promote the festival as a national brand with the Art Zone playing a key role.
