The province of Shanxi was a hit at the 9th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair, as it received more than 300,000 visitors, and signed contracts worth more than 5 million yuan concerning no less than 80 types of cultural products, with clients both at home and abroad.

The products at the booths in the Shanxi pavilion, which covered an area of over 90 square meters, mainly involved traditional crafts, but also included programs related to the media industry, radio and television, and cultural performances. All of the exhibits displayed distinctive regional characteristics, and were also products of commercial value–representing the future direction of their respective industries.

The Shanxi government's goal was to showcase the province's intangible cultural heritages at the fair and to demonstrate their market-oriented profitability. More than 30 intangible cultural heritages were featured at the four-day event, including duijin (a type of picture made with brocades), paper cutting, and puppet shows.

Shanxi exhibitors signed 26 projects at the fair, relating to crafts, radio and television, cartoon games, press and media, and cultural tourism - worth a total of 5.2 billion yuan. Visitors bought classical traditional cultural items such as Xinjiang carved lacquer wares, Shenglong miniature wood carving of Dingxiang county, Gaoping embroidery, Pingyang New Year wood-block painting, and Pingding sandstone potter.

"The vivid puppet show, elegant duijin, and lifelike paper cutting of Shanxi province showcase not only its artistry, but also its abundant history and culture," said a businessman from Taiwan.
