Social undertakings and management
A total of 47 kindergartens were built and renovated in Wuxi, making it a leader in forging the “Jiangsu Provincial Preschool Education Reform and Development Model Zone”. And 80 percent of Wuxi’s compulsory education schools have meet the provincial modern education standard. All its county-level cities, counties and districts have qualified for “Counties (cities, districts) with Balanced Compulsory Education” in the first-round national approval.
The new hospital of traditional Chinese medicine was put into service. Construction of new medical centers in Jiangyin and Xishan were started. Additional 10 state- and provincial-level model community health service centers were set up to improve the medical treatment percentage at basic level up to 50%.
Free use of public cultural facilities all year round was carried out.
A series of games including Archery World Youth Championships, Taihu Cycling and the 11th City Games were held in Wuxi, making it the province’s only National Fitness Model City and one of the country’s first cities of this kind.
The Helu Town Site in the Wu State’s Capital was inscribed in the second National Archaeological Parks.
Political and legal comprehensive control centers were established in the 80 towns and sub-districts of the city.
Food safety and drug inspection qualification rates achieved 97.4 percent and 98.6 percent respectively. The coverage of meat and vegetable traceability system reached 80 percent.
