Construction of 122 industrial projects broke ground on April 23 in the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu city – according to local media reports.
With a combined investment of $15.3 billion, the projects involve various fields, including biomedicines and electronics information. The number of advanced manufacturing projects reportedly accounted for 88.5 percent of the total.
In terms of industry category, there are 108 advanced manufacturing projects with a total planned investment of 83 billion yuan ($12.8 billion) and an annual planned investment of 17.1 billion yuan.
In terms of scale, the average cost of the 122 projects is 810 million yuan. The total planned investment is 88.7 billion yuan, accounting for 89.3 percent of total investment.
In terms of region, there are 75 urban projects with an annual planned investment of 12.5 billion yuan, accounting for 61.5 percent and 57.1 percent of the total projects, respectively.
There are 47 county-level (city-level) projects with an annual planned investment of 9.4 billion yuan, accounting for 38.5 percent and 42.9 percent of the total projects, respectively.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
