With a planning area of 15,000 mu (1000 hectares), the new materials industrial park attaches importance to the development of motive power batteries, nuclear power equipment, new organic polymer materials, high-tech composite materials, energy saving and environmental-friendly materials, and new alloy materials. The park has received approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology for the establishment of an industrial base of new chemical materials, and from the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province for the establishment of a industrial park of new materials. At present, representative enterprises, including Shen Hua Chemical Industrial, the largest domestic manufacturer of styrene-butadiene rubber, have settled in the park.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
