Nantong Shipping College in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area won the award for best feature at the first Chinese College Student Visual Image Art Festival held in the city of Nantong, Jiangsu province, on Nov 19.
The microfilm Sail of Love from Nantong Shipping College, adapted from a real story, demonstrated the experience of a college student who became an excellent shipyard worker.
“We hope we can have our own film festival, allowing Nantong college students to compete with students from other places in the country and realize their moviemaking dreams,” said Xing Xinyan, secretary-general of the festival organization committee.
The Chinese College Student Visual Image Art Festival, initiated by several colleges in the province, is a comprehensive art event featuring competition and cultural exchange. Since the event was launched this April, it has received over 470 films from more than 50 colleges, including Beijing Film Academy, Shanghai Theater Academy and Communication University of China, Nanjing. A total of 21 awards were granted at the closing ceremony.
