The fifth Yangtze Delta planning seminar, focusing on the development of new-type urbanization, was held in Nantong on June 25. Experts and scholars from around the Yangtze Delta offered their advice on this subject.
Zou Jun, director of the Jiangsu Academy of Urban Planning and Design, suggested Nantong’s advantage in the long-term growth of Jiangsu province. As cities like Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou have been the pioneers for 30 years, Jiangsu is in need of a new powerful engine.
In recent years, the opening of the Suzhou-Nantong Bridge and Chongming-Qidong Bridge, as well as the construction of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway, have connected Nantong to Shanghai’s “One-Hour Economic Rim.” Meanwhile, Nantong has formed its initial transport framework based on urban viaducts.
In addition, the operation of key industrial parks such as Su-Tong Science & Technology Park and Nantong Binhai Industrial Park has benefited the industrial cluster and qualitative upgrading of Nantong as a metropolis.
