A charity awareness campaign was staged at Xinghu 101 Plaza in Nantong, calling on the public to learn from charity models.
The campaign, initiated by the Red Cross Society, and the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, also marked the 110th anniversary of the International Red Cross Society.
Wu Jinquan, a charity model from the eastern Chinese city of Nantong, was one of the many people who offered help after the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, although he himself was living a hard life. The 80-year-old man, who makes his living by sharpening scissors and knives, even donated money to children in the earthquake area out of his own government allowance.
Wu and his wife also helped people in several natural disasters later.
The local Red Society organization also gave interactive training on first-aid for local residents.
Students from Nantong Shipping College also participated in the campaign.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
