Nantong Kite Museum showcases kites, certificates and prizes from many international kite-fighting contests and is also a place for kite-makers to make innovations and kite-lovers to do some research.
“Sparrow Hawk in the South and Paper Glede in the North” has a long-standing reputation in the world. The Nantong sparrow hawk kite is the representative of “Sparrow Hawk in the South”. It originated from the North Song Dynasty and integrates modeling, painting, notes design and whistle caving. The sparrow hawk kite is not only a leisure product for recreation, but also an art with collection value. Its unique charm lies in the whistle of the sparrow hawk. “Singing with wind and intonating with wind”, it is a “symphony in the air”.
The museum is divided into four exhibition areas: Profound Kite Culture, Huge Kite Contribution, Wonderful Kite World and Unique Nantong Kite. Visitors can view sparrow hawk kites of great variety in shape and form, such as the “Hulong” “Whistle” “Buzz”. It also shows dozens of drawings and the tools for kite-making, coupled with pictures and relevant descriptions.
