Flights resume after repairs

2011-February-23 09:08:53

Flights at an airport in Zhejiang province resumed at noon on Monday after a "minor" crack on the runway had earlier halted operations, an airport official said.

The first flight, CA1759, departed from the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport after maintenance workers repaired the runway with concrete.

The crack was noticed during a routine weekly check.

Thirty flights were delayed and about 1,000 passengers were affected. The cause of the crack is not yet known but technicians said it might be related to prolonged low temperatures this winter.
