Du Wei's first-half header and a goal from Li Yan helped Hangzhou Lucheng battle back from a goal down to beat Shenzhen Kingway 2-1 at Hangzhou Yellow Dragon Sports Centre today and clinch a third consecutive victory in the 2010 Chinese Super League.
The win moved the eastern side up to second place in the domestic top flight and they are three points adrift of leaders Shanghai Shenhua. Yuan Lin put the visitors ahead after 21 minutes when he latched on to Belarusian forward Vyacheslav Hleb's header before firing past goalkeeper Han Feng.
China defender Du cancelled out Yuan's goal 16 minutes later, heading Wang Song's inviting cross into the net at the far post. Two minutes after the hour mark, Li Yan was found clear by Jerry Nelson Palacios inside the penalty area and was one-on-one with Cheng Yuelei and he beat the keeper with a lob.
It was the only contest today in the 11th round of CSL. Hangzhou were relegated from the CSL last year, finishing 15th of the 16-member league, but the eastern side maintained a place in the top flight after Chengdu Blades and Guangzhou Guangyao were eliminated from the league due to match-fixing.
The club strengthened the squad this year after signing new players including Du and Li. "Our current form is satisfactory and we deserved the good result," said Hangzhou manager Wu Jingui. "The victories helped us gain confidence and I believe my side will continue to improve in the future."
