Official twinning links between Leeds and China "come of age" this year. Leeds, a metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, UK, is set to mark 21 years of friendship with the town of Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province, China.
To celebrate the 21st anniversary, a host of Chinese performers will take the stage in Headingley Stadium on Tuesday April 27.
It will feature performances from the Red Fan dance society, the Leeds Chinese Community School and the local Wah Kwong Chinese Community Association. There will also be video presentations from Leeds' twin city to mark the anniversary year.
The event, which starts at 6pm, will offer an evening full of entertainment and celebration of Leeds's many connections with China.
Since 1989, Hangzhou and Leeds have swapped expertise on matters ranging from health, to education and business.
Lord Mayor of Leeds, Coun Judith Elliott said: "The event is a great way to celebrate our link with China, especially Hangzhou, with whom we are celebrating our lasting relationship of 21 years.
"It will give a true taste of China and raise money for some very worthwhile causes."
