Hangzhou is set to be hit with a consumption boom as the 2009 Hangzhou Leisure Shopping Festival kicked off last Saturday.

The Festival, running until January 3, 2010, consists of various promotional activities named “Fashion Life”, “Food Life”, “Colorful Life”, “Leisure Life” and “Internet Life”.

“Fashion Life” will offer sale promotions at Hangzhou Tower, Intime and Hangzhou Jiebai department store under the theme "Happy Shopping and Feeling Fashionable Appeal", with all kinds of preferential discounts.

Themed "Happy Eating, Tasting Food in Heaven", the “Food Life” activity will have new dishes to sample, preferential discounts and free food tasting in order to showcase the excellence of the Hangzhou food industry.

Nine commercial blocks, including Qinghefang, Sijiqing and Silk City, will hold assorted events as part of “Colorful Life”, such as ”Shopping in the Old-Brand Stores”, an “Associated Goods” exhibition and a “Creativity” exhibition. "Happy Experience, Feeling Hangzhou Style" will be the theme.

The “Leisure Life” section will have events like the “Bar Carnival" and "Sharing Coffee, Sharing Food".

With the theme "Dynamic Hangzhou, Exciting Consumption", this year’s Leisure Shopping Festival has been extended from two weeks to one month and will be spread out from the main city of Hangzhou to all districts and counties.

The 2009 Hangzhou Leisure Shopping Festival is sponsored by the Hangzhou Leisure Shopping Festival Committee and organized by the Hangzhou Trade Bureau.
