Hangzhou to get one billion yuan boost for unemployment

2009-November-30 18:06:11

Many modern cities are faced with the same problems—an influx of migrant workers looking for employment, job-hunting college graduates—and Hangzhou is no exception.

To help solve this, Hangzhou recently issued a draft titled “Suggestions for carrying out the extension of unemployment insurance fund coverage”.

According to the draft, Hangzhou will allot 1 billion yuan to boost employment. College graduates can apply for capital to create their own businesses and jobless urban and rural residents and migrant workers will be entitled to relevant subsidies.

The Hangzhou municipal government carried out employment research of over 1.9 million residents in April this year. The survey showed rural residents and newly-graduated students from other provinces made up the majority of the unemployed.
