Flea market to make debut in Hangzhou

2009-November-25 15:56:27

The first flea market is going to open on Saturday early next month on Qingchun Square, Hangzhou, capital city of east China's Zhejiang province.

Vendors will offer a wide variety of commodities, ranging from vintage house wares, furniture, clothes to second-hand electronic appliances. The flea market will last six hours, from 10 a.m. to 16 p.m.

A market manager says that the market will provide an outlet for owners who do not want or need certain items and bring family entertainment and fun shopping experience to local citizens.

Flea market is an indoor or outdoor market place that is usually open only on weekends. One man’s junk is another man’s treasures - this is a place for people who want to sell some unwanted household items and bargain hunters who expect to have a great time seeking out good deals to meet.

The concept of flea market is relatively new to people in Hangzhou. The closest equivalent to flea market is night market, where people usually sell and buy new but inexpensive commodities. However, second-hand commodities are rare to find at night markets.
